NJ Star Ledger – “Wave Gathering generates a sonic boomlet in Asbury Park”
author: mieka
excerpt:
The next performer was Pauley, a Boston singer-songwriter who, like many Wave Gathering performers, really should be more famous than she is. She’s got an eccentric streak: She pounded on her guitar with her fist, for emphasis, on her song of vengeance, “Marked Man,” and, in “Blunt,” fantasized about using her guitar as a blunt instrument against the various idiots she meets on the road. (But she wouldn’t do it, she added in the song, since the guitar was too expensive). She was utterly winning on more conventional material, too, including a rapturous cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
