went to a pre-campfire party at club passim last night – was so fashionably late it was basically couture – and I expected to sneak in amid loud mingling; instead I barged in during quiet q&a. so: passim’s matt smith & darlington howland being interviewed by wumb’s dave palmater about the festival, while I ate tofu that I thought was steak (not pictured):
can’t wait to play tomorrow night, I love this place.

Boston Phoenix – “I think I’m gonna throw down”
author: mieka
excerpt:
If you’re still walking around Boston not knowing who Mieka Pauley is, we really need to do something about that. Her latest, Elijah Drop Your Gun, takes all the smoldering soul of her voice and all the concise urgency of her songwriting and soups them up with more straight-up rock gusto than her largely acoustic past had prepped us for.
Bostonist – “Once, twice, three times a Mieka Pauley”
author: mieka
excerpt:
badass Boston folk musician… throaty, tough, stripped-down songs form the perfect counterpoint to the overproduced, overwrought studio stuff that passes for “folk” these days
