I am ebaying my old Gibson J-45

this is the guitar that I have been playing at all my shows for the past two years:

Gibson J-45 — w optional customization by Mieka Pauley
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220662687888

I’m selling it either as-is or customized: you can request to have me sign it, or write lyrics on it, or whatever

this guitar sounds beautiful, whether you play it acoustic or plugged in. I am selling it because I am now endorsed by Ovation, and I want the guitar to be in the hands of someone who could love it more consistently than me.

it has two flaws:

#1 this first flaw is rad: I cracked the face playing my song Marked Man. it has since been fixed & the brace replaced, but you can still see the fine line where my guitar took one for art

#2 this flaw is kind of lame, but the volume knob fell off, so it plays at full volume all the time. not a big deal.

I’m selling it with the hard case — great condition, but it also looks like it has gone on tour for two years. win-win.

this is at Buffstock, pet festival of jersey-native, nyc-resident musician Patryk Larney, filmed by his bff Andrew Strohl. I flipping love how this turned out, all intimate and in-my-face.

SXSW Examiner: The Mieka Canon brought haunting, powerful folk style to SXSW

excerpt:
The Mieka Canon’s lyrical folk sound is reminiscent of Tori Amos with an edgier backing band, or perhaps a female version of Jeff Buckley. The band’s unique blend of powerful, poetic lyrics accompanied by melodic, rock-influenced guitars mesmerized the crowd in the smallish venue, leading many a hungover partygoer to groove along before it even hit mid-afternoon.

she gave us five stars as well !!

audio: we sang to Jeff Buckley’s mother in Austin

Jeff Buckley’s mother came to one of our shows in Austin a few days ago … Brian & I on a whim decided to sing “Hallelujah” to her … Dave (our drummer) whipped out his iPhone when he realized the significance of the moment and recorded us — apologies for the missing half of the 1st verse, but we hadn’t intended to tape it AT ALL (thank you dave) … you also miss me telling the audience “I’m scared shitless to perform this” but perhaps that would take away from the ambience.

after our set, she told Brian she didn’t want the show to end, and our egos are now set forever … she also told me to “keep him alive” … we’re sure as hell trying our best, Mary.

The Mieka Canon prepares to perform ONLINE at Video Ranch 3D. Without a doubt, the band’s most surreal performing experience to date.

Noise and Booze – “The Mieka Canon, Boston 02_24_10″

excerpt:
Mieka’s smokey vocals and infectious charisma carried the crowd away from the rainy night toward a sanctuary of warm, bluesy oblivion. Now don’t get me wrong, her songs are not of the cheerful uplifting breed. In fact, songs like “Your a marked man” and “We’re all gonna die,” suggest a dark spirit lives inside this young singer. But what we saw, or rather felt, was the fire and passion of her soul. And believe me, as someone who is all too jaded by musicians who get by on a look and a schtick, it felt GOOD.
